After True Father received the heavenly command at the age of 16, through Bible study and prayer for 10 years, he sought out the new words of salvation for mankind and the realization of a world of peace. The Principles was published on May 1, 1966 by reorganizing the Principles Commentary, which is a simpler version of the 'Principles', into a systematic theological system. According to the Providence of Restoration of Creation Principle, the Fall Theory, and the Principle of Restoration, the Principles is composed of a total of 13 chapters: the first 7 chapters and the latter 6 chapters.

The Divine Principle is the main theological textbook of the Unification Church written by the founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Sections include God’s purpose in creating human beings, the fall of man, and redemption ? the process through history by which God is working to remove the disastrous effects of the fall and restore humanity back to the relationship and position that God originally intended.

In this deluxe color coded edition, the colors are based upon the 39th Korean edition of Wolli Kangron with colors prepared by Mrs. Gil Ja Sa Eu. The main ideas are shaded red, second rank topics are shaded blue, and third rank topics are shaded yellow. The reader can grasp the main thread of the teaching of the Divine Principle in a short time by reading only the red-highlighted text. Reading the red and blue text together provides a richer framework. Reading all three colors together gives a rather full exposition including many examples. To get the fullest meaning, the text must be studied in its entirety. Yet even when reading the full text, attention to the passages in red can help to clarify the thread of the argument.
